The National Excellence Centre for Ceramics in Tipaza

Centro Nacional de Excelencia de Tipaza para la Cerámica

The National Excellence Centre for Ceramics in Tipaza is an iniciative supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts of Algeria and constitutes the culmination of a list of projects co-financed by the AECID – Spanish Agency for International Cooperation to Development-, and carried out by the Human Geography Department of the Complutense University of Madrid.

The future center will have its headquarters in the historic city of Tipaza, where archeology, popular tradition and contemporary creation meet. Since 2011, INNOVARTE has participated, together with the Complutense University, in a design project concerning the contents and services of the future center.

Several experts belonging to outstanding institutions also worked in this project: the Institute of Ceramics and Glass and the Moncloa School of Ceramics in Madrid, the Handicraft Center in Aragon, Spain, the National Ceramics Museum in Valencia and the AYADI Association in Algeria.
